what is lifestyle photography that seems to be all the rage lately?
Lifestyle sessions are ALL the rage and for good reason. Think...playing together, throwing them in the air, cuddling, whispering, tickling, kissing and loving them! It's a lot like I'm peering in on a family moment. This type of photography is meant to envoke pure emotion...not the "say cheese" type. Rest assured, I am getting amazing shots even if all eyes aren't aimed at the lens. While we will definitely get some shots where everyone looks at the camera, but the really emotive, candid beautiful shots are where you are simply being YOU.
Where do our sessions take place?
I am a natural light, portrait & lifestyle photographer. This means lighting plays a big part in the final product. Local parks, lakes, old barns, historic buildings and even homes can make a great spot. Believe it or not, we can make anything look great! Keep in mind that for an outdoor shoot, early morning (just after sunrise) or late afternoon (1-2 hours prior to sunset) light is best. If we are shooting indoors, a room with lots of sunlight is a must!
What should we wear?
Comfort is the name of the game. When you feel good, you look good! Flowy dresses/skirts, organic textures and bare feet! And although neutral tones looks phenomenal, I've been digging the marigolds and punchy colors lately! Rule of thumb - what you wear typically depicts what your pictures look like. I'm happy to point you to a Pinterest board for inspiration.
Flow of the session
Prepare to arrive at least 10 minutes before our scheduled time together. Because the light plays such an important role during our session, we want to make sure we maximize our time so we get those amazing sunlit photos you want! When the sun goes down, it's gone! Families with children should ensure children are fed and hydrated (maybe bring a little snack just in case too!)
How long after the session do I receive my photos?
Sneak peaks are provided within 48 hours after session. Although delivery time can vary, I typically deliver your full online gallery within 7 days of our sessions. Usually sooner as I'm so excited to get them to you!
Do you provide images digitally?
YES! I know you want to share on social media immediately (as I would!) so that's what I provide. I deliver all images in a beautiful online gallery where you can view, share and download your images. You can also order prints directly from your online gallery.
Who has the rights to the images?
You will have the right to use your images for all personal use and Milk & Honey Photography Co. maintains the license and rights to use the images for promotional purposes.
Do you backup your images?
Protecting your photos is a top priority! Upon the close of our session, I backup your images on a separate hard drive. By the time all the proofs are posted online all edited photos have also been saved on the hard drive.
Are you available for special events or parties?
Of course! Baby showers, bridal showers, children’s birthday parties, you name it! Careful not to get in the way, these will also be documentary style and capture pure candid moments so you can enjoy being present "in" the moment! CONTACT me about prices based on event.
Best time to book my maternity session?
26-36 weeks is a great time frame...enough for you to have a bit of a belly to show off but also still comfortable!
Where and when is best to photograph a newborn?
Newborn sessions can take place in my home studio or in your home as long as there is suitable light. The best time is when the baby is 2 weeks or newer. Please contact me prior to the baby being born so you can secure a session. If you are interested in a fresh 48 – I am always happy to accommodate! These are documentary style, typically done in B+W and showcase a beautiful depiction of their first hours into this world.
Forms of payment
I accept cash, check, credit card and PayPal. Your session fee is due at time of booking. Final payment is due at our session.
If I have to cancel my session, how late do I have to cancel?
Non-refundable deposits are collected at time of booking. If you cancel, I totally understand, but I ask that you let me know at least 48 hours prior to our booked session. Once rescheduled that deposit can go toward your next session!
